The North Tampa Mitigation Bank (NTMB) is a 161.44 acre site located along the Hillsborough River west of I-75 in Hillsborough County, Florida.
The 161.44 acre site is comprised of early to mid-successional forested floodplain wetlands and upland areas formed through natural soil deposition within the floodplain. The site includes approximately 1.5 miles of Hillsborough River shoreline and a natural levee that extends the length of the site along the river.
Three main vegetation communities are found within the NTMB site: forested floodplain wetlands, mixed hardwood uplands located along the fringe of the floodplain, and uplands on the natural levee adjacent to the river channel.
The Mitigation Plan proposed for the NTMB includes the preservation, enhancement, and long-term protection and management of the onsite habitats. The NTMB represents a key and vital link between several existing conservation parcels along the Hillsborough River, the protection of which will provide a contiguous corridor to permanently connect these parcels.
